DAILY ORAL HEALTH MONITORING– THE SIMPLE WAY
MORE RETURNING PATIENTS
IMPROVED DENTAL CARE
Ideally, everyone should visit a dentist every three months. Regular visits to the dentist can help prevent most oral health problems. According to the CDA, only 74% of Canadians visit a dentist annually. This might not be enough to ensure oral health
Our unique, attractive marketing tool will let your patients immediately know when it is time to call you and schedule an appointment.

WHY A DEMAT BOX ?

Based on a wide range of metrics, the Canadian Dental Association (CDA) states that Canada is among the world leaders for the overall oral health of its citizens. However, many people still consider oral care as a number of separate events (e.g., visits to their dentist) rather than a continuous process that involves time and effort from both doctors and patients.

Teeth cleaning and whitening is a somewhat unpleasant procedure and is usually accompanied by a long list of do’s and don’ts. For many people, it is easier to ignore the guidelines and the expense of dental appointments. As a result, people who do not maintain oral and dental hygiene incur unnecessary expenses over the long term.

BENEFITS FOR DENTISTS

The DEMAT box works with various clinical partners and stakeholders, helping Canadian patients maintain oral health, helping to prevent major problems with decayed, missing, and filled teeth (DMFT) and gum disease.

A DEMAT box is a unique tool for dentists:

– A personalized DEMAT box contains 90 indicator strips for a daily oral check.

– DEMAT helps to increase the total number of annual client visits for dentists by encouraging extra check-ups and cleanings.

– Patient loyalty is increased due to regular reminders about dental health.

Diagnostics from saliva are a new area useful in diagnosing oral cavities and the condition of the teeth and gums. Saliva is a clinically informative biological fluid that contains many biomarkers, making it possible to conduct numerous tests, including daily, rapid tests at home. The use of saliva expands the prospects for diagnosis, dynamics, and monitoring.

A DEMAT box has indicator test strips for the daily testing of oral health. The box has 90 strips for use over 90 days.

The application is straightforward, each strip containing three specific “indicators”. A patient puts their saliva on the test strip. Normal oral conditions will produce “OK” on the strip. With increased acidity (pH < 6.7), the word “Dentist” will appear on the strip in red. If an alkaline balance prevails (pH > 7.8), the word “Dentist” will appear in blue. Both “Dentist” indications mean that the acid-base balance in the mouth is disturbed, and a visit to the dentist is required.
A DEMAT box is packaged in a unique, personalized “business card box” on which the patient can always find information about the doctor or dentist, their address, and phone number.

Each test box design is customized as per client order, including a logo, a dental practice name, address, contact details, and hours of operation.

TECHNOLOGY

Boxes-4-3

The DEMAT strip works as an efficient detection system based on titanium dioxide (TiO2), anthocyanins of the butterfly-pea flower, and potato starch. The pH in the saliva will make the anthocyanins change the protonation state of the oxygen atoms in the anthocyanin

There is a notable correlation between saliva pH and oral disease. For instance, low salivary pH provides an acidogenic environment for the growth of aciduric bacteria leading to dental caries, which further lowers the salivary pH, leading to a vicious cycle. Other recent studies have shown that low resting pH (≤ 6.0) in the overall sample of older adults (≥ 65 years old) was associated with increased dental caries.
